Box Score SALISBURY, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team completed the home-and-home sweep over the Indians of Catawba College this evening with a 94-76 victory. The win ends a four-game skid for the Royals and improves their South Atlantic Conference record to 12-9 and their overall record to 15-12. The Indians fall to 14-13 on the season and 11-10 in the league.
After heading into the locker room at the half trailing the Indians 41-37, Queens would shoot 76 percent from the floor in the second to pick up the 18-point win over Catawba.
Rob Lewis led the Royals tonight with 22 points after shooting 6-of-9 from the floor and 10-of-13 from the foul line.
Sean Morgan added 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting, and pulled down nine rebounds.
Marquis Rankin returned after sitting out two games due to injury to score 16 points, while
Jedarian Jackson recorded 15 points and seven rebounds. Also pulling down seven boards was
Logan Evans.
After a fairly even matched first half of action, the Royals picked up the pace at the start of the second. They would lead by nine, 58-49, with 13:08 on the clock after going on a 21-8 run to begin the period. With their backs against the ropes, Catawba was forced to call a timeout with hopes of slowing the Royals down, but Queens was just getting started.
A 13-4 push out of the short pause helped the Royals extend their lead to 17, 73-56, just after the under eight media timeout, and Queens would lead by as much as 20 points before the final horn sounded .
Queens outscored Catawba 56-28 in the paint, and won the battle under the glass, 43-21.
KJ Arrington led the Indians with 19 points, while Jerrin Morrison totaled 16 points. Jameel Taylor added 13 points.
The Royals are back on the road on Saturday when they head to Anderson University to close the regular season. Queens won the first match-up between the two teams by a score of 80-65. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
