Box Score MARS HILL, N.C. – The twelfth ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team (11-0, 5-0 SAC) behind the scoring punch of
Rob Lewis and
Sean Morgan, knocked off the Mars Hill Lions (5-6, 1-4 SAC) 87-75 on Saturday, December 19, 2015.
                                                    The Royals leading scorer in the game was Morgan as he added 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. Morgan was also 7-of-8 from the free throw line and added three rebounds. Not to be outdone, Lewis was the Royals second leading scorer with 26 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. Lewis also added three rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Queens shot 55.4 percent from the field in the game, but could only make 2-of-14 three pointers in the game. The Royals outrebounded Mars Hill 40-23 and took advantage of 14-second chance points in the game. Queens was also impressive from the charity stripe as they went 23-of-28 from the free throw line.

Morgan got the Royals rolling early, as he scored 10 of their first 14 points to give them a 14-7 lead with 16:32 left on the clock. Mars Hill would work to cut into the lead as Justin Yeargin drained a three pointer with 10:33 left in the first half to make the score 22-20 in favor of the Royals. Queens responded to the Lions closing the gap as they went on a 11-3 run over a two minute span to give the Royals their first double digit lead of the game, 33-23, with just over eight minutes remaining in the half. The Lions had an answer once again as they went on a 13-4 run following a Michael Carson layup, to cut the lead down to only one point, 37-36, with 2:24 remaining in the half. Both teams would add buckets at the end of the half, but the lead would remain the same as the Royals went into the half leading 42-41.

Queens started the second half off quickly as they went on a 13-2 run in the first four minutes to give them a 55-43 lead. The run was capped by a Lewis layup at the 16-minute mark of the second half. Minutes later,
Darryl White would snag a defensive rebound and slam home a dunk to give the Royals a 62-50 lead with 12:14 remaining in the game. Mars Hill responded by going on a 7-0 run to cut Queens lead down to five, 62-57 with 10:18 left on the clock. The Royals and Lions would go bucket-for-bucket for the next five minutes until the Royals lead would get cut down to only three points, 72-69, following a Valentine Bauer layup with 5:22 remaining in the game. Queens would answer the bell once again as they went on another 13-2 run, this time sparked by a
Jared Hendryx old fashioned three point play, to give them a 85-71 lead with only one minute to go in the game. The Royals would end the game with the score of 87-75 to win keep their season long unbeaten streak alive.

Mars Hill was led by Michael Carson, who scored 23 points in the game and added three rebounds. Jalen Witherspoon was the only other Lions player to score double digits as he added 13 points.

The Royals are off for winter break, but will return back to the court on Saturday, January 2nd, 2016 when they match up against the Coker College Cobras at 4:00 p.m. in the Levine Center.
