Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The seventeenth ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team (10-0) won their tenth game in a row as they defeated the Warren Wilson Owls (7-8) 94-69 in the Royals last non-conference game of the season on Sunday, December 13, 2015.
Â
The Royals were led offensively by
Sean Morgan as he scored 29 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field and 9-12 from the free throw line.
Daniel Camps was also efficient in the game as he scored 14 points on 5-6 shooting from the field and 4-5 from the free throw line. Queens' leading rebounder on the night was
Darryl White who snagged 10 rebounds and was one point away from scoring a double double as he scored nine in the game.
Â
Queens had no trouble getting the ball into the basket as they shot 55.4 percent from the field and scored 52 of their points in the paint. The Royals made it to the free throw line 40 times in the game, 30 of which came in the second half and they made 28 of them as Queens shot 70 percent from the charity stripe.
Â
Camps provided the Royals with an immediate spark as he either scored or assisted on the first 15 points of the game to give them a 15-5 lead with only three minutes played in the game. Queens' lead grew as large as 14 points in the second half after
Todd Withers blocked a three pointer and then took the ball on a fast-break and dunked it home to give them a 39-25 lead with 5:58 remaining in the half. Morgan's layup with 35 seconds remaining in the half gave the Royals a 44-33 lead going into the half.
Â
Warren Wilson battled back in the beginning of the second half as they cut the Royals lead to single digits, 51-43, following a three pointer by Steve Horton Jr. The Royals would get back on track thanks to
Darryl White's hustle points. White grabbed an offensive rebound off of a missed free throw and then moments later would steal an Owls inbounds pass, get fouled on the layup, and make both free throws to give the Royals a 62-57 lead with a little over 10 minutes remaining in the game. From that point forward, Queens would score 32 points, many of which would come from Morgan, to give the Royals their tenth straight win, 94-69.
Â
Tyler Trippet led Warren Wilson in scoring as he scored 15 points, all of which came from beyond the arc. Two other players scored in double digits for the Owls as Justin Gonyea added 11 points and Timmy Johnson scored 10 points.
Â
The Royals will play their last game of the calendar year on Saturday, December 19, 2015 when they travel to Mars Hill, N.C. to face off with the Lions at 4:00 p.m.
