Explosive Second Half Leads Royals To Victory Over North Georgia

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Men's Basketball team won their third straight game to get to 3-0 on the year after defeating the University of North Georgia 93-78 on Saturday, November 21, 2015.
 
Rob Lewis led the Royals in scoring as he dropped 24 points in the game on 8-of-12 shooting. Lewis was followed by Daniel Camps who tallied a career-high 22 points to go along with six rebounds. Marquis Rankin also had a great night as he scored 18 points and dropped three assists for the Royals.
 
As a team, the Royals forced North Georgia into 22 turnovers, which led to 31 points for the Royals. Queens shot 60 percent from the field, which included going 21-32 for 59 points in the second half, as the Royals offense was explosive coming out of the break.
 
To start the game, the Royals came out to a quick 6-2 lead with 16:44 remaining in the first half after a jumper made by Camps. North Georgia would then come back and tie the game at eight with 15:20 remaining in the first half after a made three-pointer by Ebo Smith. Queens followed this up with an 8-2 run after two made free throws by Marquis Rankin. T.J. Williams made a jumper with 8:38 remaining in the first half to cap a 12-2 run for the Nighthawks to give them a 22-18 lead. Both teams would continue to battle back and forth for the remainder of the half and the Royals would take a 34-32 lead going into halftime after Lewis' drained a runner in the lane as time expired.
 
Queens would come out of halftime on a roll, as they went on a 14-4 run to put them up 48-36 with 16:43 left in the game. The Royals lead would get up to 18 points with 14:48 remaining in the game after a Todd Withers made free throw after he was fouled on a thunderous dunk. The Nighthawks would work to cut the Royals lead down to 10 points (66-56) with 10:05 remaining after two made free throws by Roderick English. Queens' lead wouldn't get any smaller than 10 for the remainder of the game as the Royals would end up taking a 20 point lead with 4:43 remaining after a layup by Lewis to make the score 85-65. Jordan Robertson scored the last bucket for the Royals with seven seconds remaining to give the Royals a 93-78 win.
 
North Georgia was led by Sean Brennan who scored 14 points, tallied four rebounds, and dropped four assists in the game. Tyler Dominy and Juan Rivas would score 12 points each for the Nighthawks.
 
The Royals return to the court on Tuesday, November 24th at 8:00 p.m. as they travel to face the Wolves of Newberry College.
