Katla leads Royals at U.S. Women’s Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's golf team wrapped up their regular season today at the United States Women's Invite hosted by Belmont Abbey College at Pine Island Country Club. The Royals shot a 332 in the one-round tournament to finish in eighth place. Barry, ranked second in the nation, claimed the top spot with a 302, while No. 3 Florida Tech finished second with a 307.
 
Iris Katla led the Royals finishing tied in 17th place after shooting a 79. Grace Glaze and Taylor Penzer completed play tied in 34th with 83s, while Shannon Fraser totaled Queens' score with an 87 tied in 42nd. Stephanie Yocum finished the day tied in 50th with a 96, while Alexa Clark claimed the 52nd spot with a 98.
 
Johanna Larson of Florida Tech led the group of golfers individually after firing a 73, while Krysta Schaus of Erskine shot a 74 for second overall.
 
The Royals will compete in the 2014 Food Lion SAC Women's Golf Tournament April 13-15.
