Men’s basketball falls in quarterfinals to Anderson

Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. – Queens University of Charlotte closes the 2013-14 season at 14-13 after falling to Anderson University in the quarterfinal round of the 2014 SAC Food Lion Men's Basketball Championship. The Royals fell 76-65 to the Trojans.

After Chris Ross of the Trojans got his team on the board first with a dunk 22 seconds into play, the Royals answered with a 14-2 run on the back of stellar three-point shooting sophomore guard Joby Glymph early on. However, it would also be three pointers that would get the Trojans back into the game as they knocked down three in a row to cut Queens' lead to seven, 20-13 by the under-12 media.

An 11-2 run by Anderson would give the Trojans the lead for the first time since the opening play of the game. A pair of free throws from Queens' Jarrett Stokes would tie things up at 24-24 with 4:16 to play and the two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the half.

With the game knotted at 31-31, both teams headed into the locker room shooting 50 percent from the three. Additionally, the Royals held SAC leading scorer Chandler Hash scoreless in the opening 20 minutes.

The second half began much like the first ended with neither team really being able to create a substantial lead. After not shooting a shot in the first half, Hash would be the one to get Anderson going at 7:18 with a four-point play that resulted in the Trojans lead growing to eight, 58-50, and Glymph heading to the bench with his fourth foul.

A turnover on the offensive end for Queens allowed the Trojans to expand their lead to 11, 61-60, as Myson Jones knocked down another three. By 5:41, Anderson held its largest lead of the game at 63-50.

Stokes finished the game with 26 points after shooting 7-of-18 from the floor. Glymph added 11 points, while Brent Evans was just shy of a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Josh Clyburn chipped in with eight points.

CJ Gleaton led the Trojans with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Jones added 19 points, while Chris Ross recorded 12 points and eight rebounds.
