Queens defeats College of Faith 90-44

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team welcomed College of Faith to Curry Arena this afternoon, defeating the Saints 90-44. The win helps the Royals' overall record improve to 5-5, while the Saints drop to 1-8 on the year.
 
After getting off to a slow start offensively, the Royals found themselves tied 9-9 with the Saints with 13:14 on the clock. They would then put together a 21-0 run to go ahead 30-9 with 7:20 left in the half. A three-pointer from College of Faith's Juwann Childs would pause Queens' run, but only for a short time as they went on to increase their lead to 24, 41-17, over the visiting Saints.
 
College of Faith closed the gap to 16, 41-25, after ending the half with an 8-0 spurt.
 
The Royals continued their dominating play in the second half outscoring the Saints 30-12 in the first 10:39 of the period. College of Faith was forced to take a timeout after a quick seven points scored by the Royals made it obvious they had no plans on slowing down.
 
All players on Queens's squad saw time on the court in the second stanza and the Royals saw their largest lead, 90-42, when Devin Robinson connected on a fastbreak layup for his first bucket as a Royal with 59 seconds left in the game.
 
The Royals finished the game with a 44.3 shooting percentage, while College of Faith was held to just 26.5 percent shooting. Queens outrebounded the Saints 61-47 and outscored them in the paint, 50-30. The Royals were also able to convert College of Faith's 26 turnovers into 28 points.
 
Junior forward Sean Morgan led Queens with 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting. He also totaled seven rebounds. Todd Withers was one rebound shy of a double-double recording 11 points and nine rebounds, while Ben Richter also scored 11 points. Marquis Rankin chipped in with nine points, while Jacarl Owens added eight points and eight rebounds. Jedarian Jackson also grabbed eight rebounds.
 
The Saints were led by Childs who recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Trashawn Gregory totaled 11 points and nine rebounds, while Tyler Hudson added six points and 12 rebounds.
 
The Royals are back at Curry Arena on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Belmont Abbey College.
