Men's ResultsWomen's Results HICKORY, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte women's golf collected their first tournament win this season, finishing first at the Rock Barn Intercollegiate hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University. The Royals shot a 320 yesterday followed by a 310 today to total a 630 and take the title. The Queens men completed play tied in 16
th place after shooting a 312 in round one and a 311 in round two for a team score of 623.
Leading the women in round two was
Iris Katla who fired a 76, shaving seven strokes off of her first round score. She finished the tournament with a 159 in sixth place.
Grace Glaze, who led the Royals yesterday, was one of three players to shoot a 78 today, finishing with a 155 tied in second place.
Kadi Pallastrone and
Kylie Nizolek also shot 78s, while
Taylor Penzer fired an 82. Pallastrone's 156 tied the golfer for fourth, while Nizolek (160) tied for seventh and Penzer (166) finished in 13
th place.
The women finished 11 strokes ahead of Lander, who took second with a score of 641. CSU-East Bay shot a 655 for third place.
Though
Alex Weare finished tied for 14
th after carding a two-round score of 150,
Mike Downey would lead the Royals today with a 73, cutting 10 strokes from his first round score. Downey would finish the day tied in 50
th place with a 156.
Jake McLaren (158) and
Jordan Bilodeau (163) each shot an 81 in round two, and finished the tournament tied in 65
th and 87
th, respectively.
Evan Ruhling completed play today tied in 83
rd after shooting an 83 today and totaling a 162.
No. 5 Chico State took the men's team title with a score of 590 followed by Georgia Southwestern who scored a 594. No. 9 Central Oklahoma totaled a 602 in third place.
Today's tournament was the last for the men until the spring season. They completed the fall season with three top-five team finishes. The women will close their fall at the Winthrop University Intercollegiate in Mint Hill, N.C., November 1-2.
