Box Score ANDERSON S.C. – The Queens men's basketball team travelled to Anderson University to take on the 12-5 Trojans in a crucial conference game today. In an evenly matched game it was the last shot that Anderson took with one second remaining that game them an 84-85 victory.

The game opened up with both teams racing up and down the court, and following four minutes of intense play Queens held the advantage with a 12-8 lead. The Trojans were able to capitalize on their three point shooting and following a pair of threes the home side was in the lead 13-15 with 12 minutes to go in the first half.

But senior
Jarrett Stokes quickly countered with two treys of his own to put the Royals back in the lead 19-17 and give him 11 points for the game. The Royals continued to build the lead behind the hot shooting of Stokes, and led 30-24 at the eight minute media timeout.

Both teams cooled off during the next stretch of play, with the Trojans cutting the lead to 40-35 by the end of the half. The Royals shot 43% during the first 20 minutes of play, and were led by Stokes with 19 points at half.

The Trojans opened the second half clicking on all cylinders offensively, and were able to tie the game at 46 apiece. The Trojans continued to attack the Royals big men and soon took a lead 52-54, with five Queens players with three or more fouls with 12 minutes to go in the second.

With both teams tightening their defense, points became increasingly more difficult to score. In a back-and-forth game the Royals were able to force another tie with eight minutes off an
Nkosi Ali jumper to give each team 62 points.

Over the next stretch of play both teams could not get a leg up with no lead being more than two points. With less than three minutes to go it was Chandler Hash for the Trojans who hit back-to-back threes to put the home team ahead 74-78.

Following two
Joby Glymph layups the Royals trailed 78-80 with 1:26 left to go. It was then senior
Brent Evans hitting two clutch free throws for the Royals that evened that game once again at 82-82 with 21 seconds to go. But it was the Trojans who had the hot hand, and countered with a game winning three pointer by Hash with one second to go.

Stokes led the Royals with 26 points and was joined in double figures by Ali, Glymph, and Evans. Jared Hendrix led the Royals with nine rebounds.

The Royals are now 8-8 on the season and 6-6 in conference play. They host Newberry this Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in the Levine Center for Recreation and Wellness.
