CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team faced off against Winston-Salem State today at Freedom Park in the second game of their 2013-14 campaign. The Royals made quick work of their opponents and took the match 9-0 to move their record to 2-0.
"WSSU was a hardnosed well coached program," said head coach
Brett Karpman. "I was extremely pleased we were able to try new doubles combinations on the fly with tremendous success."
In doubles the number one and two pairings of
Jules Athalis and
Andre Bafume, and
Ignacio Casali and
Zachary Williams won by the score of 8-5. The third pairing of
Ole-Jacob Meum and
Lucas Okita also made short work of their opponents with an 8-1 victory.
Much like in doubles the Royals made short work of their opponents with Casali, Bafume, Meum, and Williams all winning in just two sets. Athalis and Okita also picked up victories for the Royals.
"The players are getting fitter and stronger and we are looking forward to hosting Bluefield in front of our fans," said Karpman.
Both the men and women host Bluefield College Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
