Volleyball starts conference play with a victory

Box Score HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Queens Volleyball team travelled to South Carolina to open up their Conference Carolina regular season against Coker College. Queens entered the match on a three game winning streak, and looked too build on last year's record breaking 15-2 conference record.
 
The Royals opened the match against the Cobras winning the first two sets 25-22 and 25-16, but dropped the next two sets by the scores of 25-21 and 26-24. Queens was able to wrestle back control of the match in the fifth set and won in thrilling fashion by the score of 15-9.
 
Leading the Royals offensively was Lindsey Everhart (McNicholas) who caught fire with a .617 hitting percentage and 14 kills in the game. Joining her with double digits in kills were Anna Gibbs (Hickory)Keri Kemp (Lake Mary), and Taylor Riley (E.C. Glass)  Riley also led the Royals in assists with 44. Defensively Queens was led in digs by Jocelyn Kellinger (Cave Spring) with 16, and she was joined in double digits by Brittney Barren (Blaine)Erin Mooney (Cardinal Mooney), and Riley.
 
Queens returns to the court tomorrow when they travel to Belmont Abbey. The Royals record stands at 5-4 overall, and 1-0 in conference play.
