Stabler leads Queens past Tusculum

Box Score GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Senior forward Antonio Stabler (Garner, N.C., Wakefield) turned in a 25 point performance this evening to lead the Royals past Tusculum College in a non-conference men's basketball game. The Royals defeated the Pioneers 75-59 improving to 4-3 on the season. Tusculum drops to 1-6 on the year.
 
In a game where the Royals never trailed, Stabler scored on 11-of-17 attempts. In addition to leading in scoring, he also led the Royals under the glass with nine rebounds. Freshman guard Joby Glymph (Lexington, S.C., Lexington) scored 17 points, while senior guard Brandon Nichols (Fayetteville, N.C., Jack Britt) added 14 points. Nichols also grabbed six rebounds. Junior forward Brent Evans (Beaufort, S.C., Battery Creek) tallied 12 points all in the second half to go along with his eight rebounds.
 
After two ties early in the game, the Royals took the lead on a layup from Stabler and never let it go. Queens was able to open things up by dominating the Pioneers in the paint thanks in large part to Stabler, who posted 19 points in the first half. The Royals would go ahead by as much as 16 points before eventually heading into the locker room with a 43-28 lead.
 
Queens saw its largest lead in the second half going up by 20 points at 7:13 on a basket from Evans. Tusculum would close the gap to 13 around the three minute mark, but that is as close as the Pioneers would get as Queens took the road win.
 
Queens shot 45.2 percent from the floor this evening.
 
The Pioneers were led by Addison Flynn who scored 17 points. Keith Jumper and Darius Carter added 14 and 12 points respectively.
 
The Royals will take a break for exams before traveling to take on Carson-Newman College on December 18 at 7 p.m.
