Men’s Golf Takes Fourth at Carolina Sands

DeBerg leads the way for Queens with two rounds under par

WHITE LAKE, N.C.-  Craig Deberg (Edina, Minn., Edina) fired two round under par, 70-69-139, to lead the Queens men's golfers to a fourth place finish at the Carolinas Sands Intercollegiate hosted by UNC-Pembroke. Conference Carolinas school Coker College won the tournament in a one-hole playoff with fellow conference competitor Barton.

As a team Queens shot a two round total of 579. Coker and Barton each shot 567 and third place team Mount Olive College carded 578.

DeBergs five-under score put him in a tie for third place, while David Bainbridge (England, Thomas Alleynes) was even on the second day after being one over in the first round. His total of 145 gave him a tie for 13th place. In 18th-t, Ryan Sevigny (Stittsville, Ontario, Sacred Heart)was two-under in the first round, but shot a 76 in day two, to finish two over, 146.

Scott Kegerreis (Chambersburg, Pa., Chambersburg) just missed finishing in the top 25, 26-t, with a two round total of 149. Adam Dwyer (Ann Arbor, Mich., Horon) rounded out the Queens team in 47th-t, respectively.

This was the last tournament for the Royals before the Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament on April 18. The conference tournament is being held at Tanglewood Park Golf Course.
