CHARLOTTE, N.C.- David Bainbridge (England, Thomas Alleynes) led the Royals to a sixth place finish at the Hargett Memorial, hosted by Wingate University, on Tuesday, March 31. Bainbridge shot 151 for the two-round tournament, earning himself a top-five finish. The Pfeiffer University men's golf team edged Mount Olive College for the 2009 J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate men's golf tournament title at Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation. The Falcons shot a 294 Monday and a 306 Tuesday, completing the ninth annual event at 600.
The Royals put two players in the top 10, Bainbridge's fifth place tie (76-75) and Scott Kegerreis (Chambersburg, Pa., Chambersburg) tied for ninth. Kegerreis carded 77 in the first round and 75 in the second for a scorecard total of 152.
Queens carded a team total of 618 for the tournament, shooting 309 on each day.
Also competing for Queens was Ryan Sevigny (Stittsville, Ontario, Sacred Heart), 155, Craig Deberg (Edina, Minn., Edina), 160, and Robert Andrew Hodge (Hebron, Ky., Conner) (WD).
Queens returns to the links on April 4 in the Carolinas Sands Collegiate Invitational hosted by UNC-Pembroke in White Lake, N.C.
