SAVANNAH, Ga. -Queens men's golf closed out the first tournament with a tie for 11th place at the Armstrong Atlantic State University Pirate Invitational at Southbridge Golf Club in Savannah, Ga.
No. 8-ranked Lander made up 10 strokes on the final day to catch No. 24 Valdosta State, both teams finishing with an 895 score to capture the title.
The Royals shot 962 for the three-round tourney, with their best round coming on day two, 316.
David Bainbridge (England, Thomas Alleynes) led the team with a scorecard of 235, good for a 36th place tie. Robert Andrew Hodge (Hebron, Ky., Conner) followed with a 243.
Individually Ryan Sevigny (Stittsville, Ontario, Sacred Heart) finished in a tie for 32 by shooting 234 over the three days. He recorded his best round, 75, on the final day of play.
Queens will play at the Campbell University's Lonnie D. Small Spring Classic on March 2-3 in Buies Creek, N.C.
