CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team got back on track Wednesday night as they downed the hosting Tusculum Pioneers 80-74.
The Royals leaned on a steady attack by senior
Andre Lockhart (St. James, Barbados, Coleridge and Pany) and
Daniel Bailey (Irmo, S.C., Hammond ) to offset a 35-point night by Tusculum's Kyle Moore. Lockhart went 4-6 from the field while hitting nine of eleven from the charity stripe for 17 points. Bailey added a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds in 34 minutes of action. The Royals rode
Nate Blackburn's (Burlington, N.C., Graham) hot hand for 17 points as he hit four three-point field goals off the bench.
It was a one-man show for the Pioneers as only one player matched Moore's double-digit scoring effort. Rob Troutman worked the glass for Tusculum, gathering 11 rebounds and two steals in 35 minutes.
Despite being outscored 22-40 in the paint, the Royals found a niche behind the arc as they hit a staggering 45% (9-20) for the game.
Queens improves to 3-1 with the win, while Tusculum falls to 3-3.
The Royals return to action Saturday, December 5th as they travel to Anderson University for a 7:30 tip.
