Charlotte, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the Men's InterCon Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of December, Dion Dreseens. This is the first time, this year, that Dreseens has secured the honor.
Dreesens aided the men’s swim team to a successful month, pushing to the top of the nation in the 500 yard freestyle. During the Wingate Fall Frenzy, Dreesens secured a first place swim in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 44.12. He would also see a first place swim in the 200 yard butterfly just missing the mark for a pool record with a time of 1:48.13, placing fifth nationally. He took second in the 100 yard butterfly with a 48.20 during the preliminary races to again rank fifth overall in division II.
“Dion, continues to improve across the board,” said Coach Dugdale. “Our attention is on making the Netherlands Olympic Team in the 200 free in Orlando the week before NCAA’s. He is tracking well and the experience he has gained in racing has been phenomenal."
