Sophomore defender Shelby Osiecki was named InterCon Student-Athlete of the Month following a great month of competition in October.
Osiecki, a defender on the women’s soccer team, started in every game for the Royals this season. Queens completed the month with a 5-2-1 record, posting five shutouts due in large part to the play of the New Bern, N.C., native. The Royals back line allowed only four goals in the eight games played, and picked up a win and a tie over teams regionally ranked at the time.
“Shelby led our back line to one of the best months on record during my time at Queens,” said Queens head coach Katie Talbert. “She plays to the highest level because she loves the game, her teammates, and competing. Shelby is a selfless player who excels in the classroom, always volunteers to help with any community engagement we do as a program, and puts the team before herself on and off the field.”
