Jake Hendrick

Jake Hendrick was named the head coach of the Queens Baseball program in the summer of 2023 following a season at conference foe Austin Peay. Hendrick is the third head coach in program history.

2025
  • Opened the season with a win against in state-foe Appalachian State, 5-4.
  • Ryan Brown named D1 Baseball Preseason ASUN Freshman of the Year
  • Landry Jurecka named ASUN Pitcher of the Week
  • Three players land postseason honors

2023-2024: 
  • Queens took on three D1 Baseball Top 25 opponents, including #21 South Carolina, #14 NC State, and #1 Tennessee. 
  • Senior Matthew Corlew became the first player in program history to hit for the cycle on February 25th against Niagara 
  • Queens blasted a single-game program record seven home runs against Tennessee Tech on March 8th. 
  • The Royals plated a Division 1 program record 22 runs in a dominant 22-12 win on the road against Austin Peay on March 24th. 
  • Queens broke the program's single-season home run record against Kennesaw State. The Royals blasted 89 on the year which ranks top 50 in the nation and top five in the ASUN. 
  • Dillon Lewis became the first player in program history to land ASUN Player of the Week honors, and broke the program’s single season home runs, hits, runs, and RBIs records. 
  • The Queens pitching staff struck out the second most batters in a single season in program history. 
  • Two players earned ASUN Postseason Honors, with Lewis earning First Team All-Conference and Barbour earning All-Freshman Team nods. 
  • Will Budnick was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team 
  • Dillon Lewis was selected in the 13th round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees. 
Austin Peay University  
  • In his lone season with the Governors, Hendrick was a valuable leader for a program that finished 26-32 overall, and 15-15 in league play securing the No. 8 seed in the ASUN Tournament.  
  • Bolstered an explosive pitching staff that fanned 516 batters, which was fourth most in the league. The mark was only the second time in program history that the pitching staff struck out at least 500 batters.  
  • Produced three All-Conference performers, including Garrett Martin, Lyle Miller-Green, and Clayton Gray.  
  • The Governors turned in a 3.46 GPA, placing one on the ASUN All-Academic Team.
Northeastern State University 
  • Began his career with the River Hawks as the head assistant coach and pitching coach for two seasons. 
  • In 2015, the River Hawks posted a sub-5.00 ERA (4.86) for the first time in the program's NCAA history.  
  • Set a program record with 350 strikeouts.  
  • Ryan Helsley became NSU's highest-ever draft pick after being selected in the fifth round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. 
  • Became head coach of Northeastern State in 2016.  
  • Led the team to its fourth consecutive trip to the MIAA Tournament with a 27-23 record.  
  • Prior to the pandemic, NSU recorded a 28-win season, the most wins since 2002, while playing the seventh-toughest schedule in Division 2.  
  • Ben Strahm was selected in the 23rd round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants. 
  • NSU went 26-16 in 2021 and finished second in the MIAA which, the highest finish in program history.  
  • Named MIAA Coach of the Year  
  • Produced 11 All-Conference players, one Gold Glove winner, one All-Region performer, and an NCAA Freshman of the Year 
  • Right-handed pitcher Nic Swanson was named an ABCA Second Team All-American before being selected in the 16th round of the MLB Draft by the Houston Astros. 
  • Hendrick led the squad to the most wins since becoming a full-time NCAA member with a 38-18 record in 2022.  
  • Made their first NCAA regional berth in school history.  
  • NSU was placed in the Collegiate Baseball News Top 25 for the first time in program history. 
  • The River Hawks were the only team in the country with 120+ home runs, 120+ doubles, and 120+ stolen bases.  
  • Had two All-American nods, four All-Region selections, Region Player of the Year, 12 All-Conference recipients, and Conference Player of the Year. 
  • Two River Hawks earned Academic All-American honors for the first time in program history. 
Other Coaching Experience 
  • Stillwater High School – Assistant Coach, 2009-12.  
  • Helped the Pioneers to a state tournament appearance in his final season.  
  • Marion Military Institute – Assistant Coach, 2013.  
  • Winchester Royals – Pitching Coach, 2012.  
  • Won the North Division Regular Season Title and pennant en route to the Lineweaver Cup Playoffs.  
  • Charles Town Cannons - Assistant coach  
  • Finished second in the North Division. 
Personal 
Hendrick earned his bachelor's degree in business marketing with a focus in sports management from Oklahoma State University. The Illinois native completed a master's in health and human performance with a focus in sports administration from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas in 2014. Hendrick is married to Dr. Danielle Hendrick and the couple has three sons: Cooper, Cade, and Carson.
