Cameron Whicker joined the Royals as assistant athletic director for facilities and events ahead of the 2023 fall season.
Whicker joins the Royals after spending the past two seasons as the assistant commissioner for external operations at the South Atlantic Conference. While there, he was responsible for the development and implementation of the SAC's marketing and branding strategic plan, as well as direct oversight of the leagues corporate partnership program and revenue generating initiatives. Whicker also assisted in championship administration and served as the staff liaison to the Branding and Marketing Committee, as well as other governance committees.
Prior to joining the SAC office, Whicker spent seven years at Lincoln Memorial University as the assistant athletic director for internal operations. In his role, he served as a member of the senior leadership team and had primary oversight of business operations, game management, marketing, and communications for LMU's 25 intercollegiate athletic programs. He also managed critical projects related to enhancements and maintenance of the Railsplitters' new and existing athletic facilities. Additionally, Whicker was pivotal in the development and implementation of fundraising initiatives, aimed to expand the department's resources and enhance the overall student-athlete experience.
Before taking on the assistant athletic director role at LMU, Whicker served as the assistant basketball coach for the Railsplitter men's basketball team for three years. During that time, LMU captured three SAC Regular Season and one SAC Tournament Championship while compiling a record of 83-12.
Whicker holds a bachelor's degree in sports management from High Point University. He also received a master's degree in education and administration from LMU.
