Austin Slough was promoted to the Director of Athletic Communications in the fall of 2023 after two years as the Assistant Director. Slough has played an instrumental role in enhancing the Queens Athletics brand visibility through creative content and storytelling while promoting the success of the student-athletes. Slough assisted the University and Athletic Department in the transition from NCAA Division 2 status to NCAA Division 1 membership.
Slough has developed several social media campaigns for the department, including a 2025-26 men's basketball schedule release, which garnered 337,000 views and 10,755 engagements within five days. The year prior, Slough coordinated and created a men's basketball schedule release that reached 300,000 views, marking the highest viewed post on the accounts to that date.
Slough played an instrumental role in marketing the first-ever Division 1 game in Queens Athletics history, which resulted in a Queens women's soccer attendance record. The social media campaign generated 89,000 views and 230 new followers across the month-long campaign. In addition, Slough served as the primary media contact at the 2022 NCAA Division 2 Swimming and Diving National Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina, while also promoting the 2022 men's and women's national champions from Queens.
While overseeing the communications for the Queens baseball program, Slough has promoted and spotlighted key standouts, including three Major League Baseball draft picks in Tanner Jacobson (St. Louis Cardinals), Dillon Lewis (New York Yankees), and Landry Jurecka (San Diego Padres). On the hardwood, Slough has covered and promoted the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Year and Lefty Driesell Defensive Player of the Year award finalist, Malcolm Wilson. In addition, he has covered nine All-League performers, including the ASUN Newcomer of the Year, Deyton Albury, and seven Royals who moved on to the professional ranks overseas.
Slough came to the Queen City in 2021 following a stint as a Media Relations Intern at Villanova University. Slough served as a secondary contact for the baseball, field hockey, and soccer programs and was responsible for heading multiple game-day tasks, including official stats, public address announcements, social media, and press releases. Additionally, Slough was able to assist in managing the 2020 Big East Field Hockey Championships hosted at Villanova.

Prior to Villanova, Slough spent a year at Virginia Commonwealth University working as a Graduate Assistant in the athletic communications office. While at VCU, Slough served as the primary contact for men's and women's tennis while also assisting with the soccer and basketball programs.

A native of Glen Allen, Virginia, Slough earned his bachelor's degree in communication studies with a minor in leadership from Christopher Newport University in 2019. Slough was a four-year member of the Captains baseball team, where he won a Capital Athletic Conference Tournament title and made two NCAA Tournament appearances. After graduation, Slough went on to receive his master's degree from the VCU Center for Sport Leadership in 2020.
