Angela McGuire

Angela McGuire is entering her second season as a coach of the Royals. 

During her first year at the helm, McGuire guided the team one of the best seasons in recent history. Overall the team recorded eight wins and 23 losses, the most wins in the past three seasons combined and in Conference Carolinas action Queens picked up seven wins and had 13 losses, the best conference record since the 2004-2005 season. 

Prior to arriving at Queens McGuire held the position of director of the Northwestern High School junior varsity and varsity programs since 2005. Prior to this position, she served as head coach at Lander University and Converse College.

During her tenure at Northwestern, McGuire has coached four All-Region player selections and two All-State recipients. In addition, Northwestern’s varsity team qualified for the Region III-AAAA playoffs twice under her leadership. When McGuire was the head volleyball coach for Lander University, she broke the school record for the most conference wins in a single season, coached three Peach Belt “Players of the Week” and significantly increased the team’s winning percentage. 

McGuire is a 2002 graduate of the University of Saint Francis in Joliet, Ill., where she received a bachelor’s degree in mass communication/journalism. During her collegiate career at the University of Saint Francis, she was a member of the Saints volleyball team. Before transferring to the University of Saint Francis, she competed on Troy State University’s Trojans volleyball team as well.

McGuire is married to Mike McGuire, the assistant baseball coach at Winthrop University and they have two daughters, Courtney (4), and Sydney (2).
