Duffy comes to the Royals from Lenoir-Rhyne University where he served as an assistant men’s soccer coach for two seasons.
 
“I am extremely excited to have Luke join our women’s soccer staff,” said Coach Talbert. “His experience and success as a Division II player and coach exemplify his passion for this level and the Southeast Region. The program will benefit immediately from his integrity, tempo, and excitement for the game and our players.”
 
Duffy helped the Bears compile a 15-15-5 record in his time there. This past season, the Bears placed one player on the all-conference team and earned the South Atlantic Conference Fair Play Award. Duffy played a role in recruiting, while also developing and coaching practice sessions. Additionally, he helped with budgeting and helping the student-athletes develop academically and socially.
 
While working with the Bears, Duffy also served as a coach for the Premier UK Soccer team. He began his work with the professional team in December 2011. He also coached with the West Ham United FC International Academy and is a technical and academy director with the ICRD Soccer Club out of Statesville, N.C.
 
Duffy completed his playing career in 2011 at Lees-McRae University after joining the team in 2008. During his career as a Bobcat, Duffy was a four-time all-conference team member. The Team Captain earned first-team recognition from 2009-2011. He earned NCAA DII All-American First Team honors in 2009 and helped lead his team to the national championship game.
 
Academically, Duffy was named to the Conference Carolinas All-Academic Team three times and was named to the Lees-McRae Dean's List. He graduated from Lees-McRae with a bachelor's degree in sport science.
 
Duffy earned his master’s degree from Lenoir-Rhyne in May 2014. He currently resides in Hickory, N.C., with his wife, Nikki, and their son, Oliver.
