David Streeten is entering his first season on the men's lacrosse coaching staff.
Streeten’s responsibilities will include scouting, recruiting and planning practices alongside the first assistant. He will also be working with the face-off specialists, midfielders and goalies.
Streeten comes to the Royals from Elmira, N.Y., where he was a volunteer assistant for the Division III Soaring Eagles of Elmira College. He spent the majority of his time working with midfielders and defenders. Being a face-off man himself, he worked extensively to improve the individual technique, skill, and capabilities of the Soaring Eagles’ face-off men.
As an undergrad, Streeten was a member of the NCAA Division I lacrosse program at Binghamton University during the 2004 season before a career ending injury sidelined him. In just one season of play he was able to place himself in the record books where he is ranked in the top three at Binghamton in face-off percentage, face-offs won, and face-offs taken.
After the injury, Streeten used the knowledge he gained watching his father, legendary high school coach Bob Streeten, to continue to lead his team as a volunteer assistant for the remaining three years of his collegiate career. He graduated from Binghamton in May of 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in English and a concentration in creative writing.
Outside of lacrosse, Streeten has spent time working as a freelance sports journalist for Inside Lacrosse Magazine and Lacrosse Magazine. He has also been an active substitute teacher in Corning, N.Y., since 2009.
