Nic Eriksson begins his fifth year with the Queens University of Charlotte swimming program as a full-time coach in 2023-24. Eriksson previously served as a volunteer assistant swimming coach for the Royals during the first four seasons while also spending time as a coach for SwimMAC Carolina.
A decorated program alum, Eriksson was a two-time NCAA Division II National Champion in the 400-Medley Relay and helped guide Queens to its first national title as senior in 2015. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Eriksson was a 14-time CSCAA All-American and qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2012, 2016, and 2020.
Eriksson graduated from Queens in 2015 with a degree in Biology and currently resides in Charlotte.
2022-23
Eriksson was integral in the transition to Division I for the Queens men's and women's swimming programs ahead of the 2022-23 season. Queens began Division I play at the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships. The men's side completed with 933.5 points, good for a first-place finish. Alex Kunert who was named Most Outstanding Men's Swimmer of the Championship and Daniel Meszaros who was named Most Outstanding Men's Freshman Performer. The women's team would conclude the tournament with a third-place finish, finishing the week with 1,119 points. Danielle Melilli was named the Most Outstanding Women's Swimmer of the Championship, and Annika Huber was named the Most Outstanding Women's Freshman Performer. The two teams combined for 12 broken conference records, and three broken school records throughout the championships. In addition, Eriksson aided in the coaching of many Queens swimmer accolades, including Jan Delkeskamp who was named a Walter Byers Post-Graduate Finalist for a second-consecutive year, Matej Dusa who finished as a semifinalist at the short course World Championships in Melbourne, Australia, and alumnus Kayla Tennant who was an NCAA Woman of the Year finalist, finishing within in the top-nine.
2021-22
Erikkson aided in the Queens men's and women's swimming programs' victories at the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships in 2022, securing their seventh straight title each. At the Championships, Queens posted a combined 84 All-American swims, including 50 All-Americans and 34 Honorable Mention All-Americans. The Royals produced a pair of CSCAA Swimmers of the Year, including Danielle Melilli, who was awarded the praise for the second straight year. On the men's side, Alex Kunert was named the Men's Swimmer of the Year.
Queens also swept the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships for the eighth straight year. Alex Kunert and Danielle Melilli were named BMC Male and Female Swimmer of the Year.
2020-21
Eriksson helped the Royals men's and women's swimming teams secure their sixth straight NCAA Division II Swimming Championship. At the championships, Queens recorded a combined 84 All-American swims, including 61 All-Americans and 23 Honorable Mention All-Americans. Eriksson also helped the Royals sweep the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships for the seventh consecutive year.
Academically, both teams were named CSCAA Scholar All-America teams while 21 individuals were named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans, including Jan Delkeskamp who earned the Pamela Davies Scholar Athlete of the Year.
2019-20
Eriksson helped lead Queens to the 2020 Men's & Women's Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships as well as two individual NCAA Division II National Titles in the Women's 200-Yard I.M. (Lexie Baker) and the Women's 200-Yard Medley Relay before the championship meet was cut short due to COVID-19.
A total of 30 Queens student-athletes were named to the CSCAA All-America list, registering a combined total of 101 individual and relay awards.
