Seagren joined the Royals in 2012 after most recently finishing up one season with Morningside College’s men’s and women’s track and field teams. His direct responsibilities included but weren’t limited to recruiting, designing pre-season and weight room workouts, planning travel and overseeing the budget. Both the men’s and women’s teams finished in the top three at the 2012 Great Plains Athletic Conference Indoor Meet. The NAIA Mustangs posted 26 automatic national qualifying marks and 20 provisional qualifying marks over the year. The Mustangs also picked up 23 all-American honors at the 2012 NAIA National Championships, which included and individual national champion in the women’s high jump and a men’s 4 x 800 national championship team.
Prior to joining the Mustangs, Seagren was a graduate assistant coach with the track and field program at the University of South Dakota from 2009-2011. Over the two seasons he spent time as the vertical/horizontal jumps, sprints, middle distance, and multi-event coach. In addition, Seagren served as a recruiting coordinator for the Division I program. Seagren was a student-athlete at the University of South Dakota competing in the decathlon, pentathlon, intermediate hurdles, and triple jump for the track and field program. He received all-conference honors 11 times, and was a member of two North Central Conference Championship teams.
Seagren will handle sprints and jumps for the Royals.
