Cory Guinn joined the communications department as Assistant Sports Information Director in August 2017. He was promoted to the Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing in May 2020.

In addition to his duties in athletic communications, Guinn oversees the department's branding and graphic design efforts,manages the athletic communication graduate assistants as well as all strategic communication efforts on social media and marketing

Prior to joining the Royals, Guinn was the New Media Coordinator at Barton College in Wilson, N.C. There he was responsible for the athletic department's graphic design and social media while providing media coverage for men's soccer, men's and women's volleyball, women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's tennis and baseball.

Additionally, Guinn also worked on the in-game entertainment and video production staff for the Carolina Mudcats, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers for three seasons. He is a member of CoSIDA and NCCSIA as well serving as a committee member for the D2SIDA Women's Basketball Southeast Regional Media Poll and the NCBWA Southeast Regional Poll for three years. In 2017-18, he began serving as the Committee Chair for the D2SIDAÂ Women's Basketball Southeast Regional Media Poll.

Guinn, who spent five years working with the sports information staff at North Greenville University as a student assistant and graduate assistant (2009-2014), earned both a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in social studies education from NGU.
He earned an additional master's degree in business administration from Queens in 2019.
