With Sacramento State, Sanchez was responsible for the development of their pitching staff while also leading their recruiting and advanced scouting efforts. Sanchez analyzed their Trackman and Rapsodo data and generated reports specific to each pitcher to guide their staff to maximizing performance. Under his direction, the Hornets posted 5.62 team earned run average which was sixth best in a difficult Western Athletic Conference. Across 500.0 innings pitched, the Hornets struck out 430 batters while limiting opponents to a .280 batting average. Early in the season, Sanchez's pitching staff managed to sweep No. 6 ranked Long Beach State while surrendering just eight total runs across three games.
