Academic Support

Academic Eligibility
In order to remain academically eligible to compete, each student-athlete must do the following:
  • Maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students
  • Maintain a full-time semester schedule (minimum of 12 credit hours for undergraduate students, 6 credit hours for graduate students)
  • Pass 6 degree applicable credits each semester, and 18 each academic year
  • Avoid Honor Code violations

Academic Counseling
To support Queens student-athletes' academic success, weekly meetings are scheduled with all student-athletes performing below a 2.59 GPA. These meeting are mandatory, as they are required by both our University and the Athletic Department

Grade Reports
The Athletic Academic Success team monitors the academic performance of all student-athletes and sends weekly grade reports to respective coaches so that they are aware of the student-athlete progress.

Study Hall
The study hall program is designed to give Queens student-athletes a structured, quiet environment to complete homework, work on projects and papers, and prepare for quizzes and exams. Queens coaches decide who from their respective teams are required to go to study hall each semester, and how many hours per week they are required to earn. There are a couple of ways for student-athletes to earn their study hall hours:
  • Check in and out with study hall monitors during study hall
  • Attend tutoring sessions through the Tutoring Center, part of the Center for Student Success
  • Attend office hours with their professors
  • Attend Queens R.I.S.E. events
