Queens University of Charlotte does offer the opportunity for internships and graduate assistant positions. All internships are unpaid, although college credit may be earned if agreed upon with the intern's institution. Areas of Focus Within the Athletic Department
The Intern may choose to either stay within one area of focus or get a broader experience of all areas. We are extremely flexible and will cater to the Intern's interests.
Queens Sports Network (QUSN)
1. Be a camera operator for ESPN+ broadcasts, including setting up and breaking down.
2. Learn to insert graphics for ESPN+ broadcasts and contribute to the live event production.
3. Create video packages to be used on ESPN+ and other school broadcasts.
4. Collaborate with producers and directors on pre, in-game, and post-production.
5. Manage social media accounts for Queens Sports Network.
6. Must be proficient with PC and Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
7. Some knowledge of Adobe editing suite (Premiere, Photoshop, AfterEffects, etc.)
8. Other duties assigned
Graphic Design
1. Must know graphical software like Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc
2. Handle pre- and post- game graphics for the department
3. Create material promptly to promote athletic events and achievements
4. Develop marketing materials to be distributed to both internal and external fans
5. Create new ideas and concepts for the department
6. Other duties as assigned
Athletic Communications
1. Using Statcrew or Genius software to enter stats during athletic events
2. Produce content for the athletic website in the form of press releases
3. Communicate with the media to promote athletic teams
4. Maintenance and management of athletic website
5. Social media management
5. Serve as a public relations specialist for teams assigned
6. Other duties assigned
Marketing and Promotions
1. Create marketing plans for events, including halftime and in-game promotions.
2. Utilize social media to highlight upcoming seasons, coaches, and players.
3. Assist with preparations for fall events such as our basketball tip-off (Royals Reveal), soccer and volleyball promotions, and large cross-country events.
4. Use video, posters, etc,. to promote events and upcoming seasons to Queens students and the community.
5. Working with corporate sponsorships to develop game promotions.
6. Assisting with event management, fundraising, and other general tasks as assigned.
7. Other duties assigned
Event Management
1. Assist Sports Complex Coordinator and Event Manager with game day operations for tournaments, meets, and matches in a variety of athletic sport programs.
2. Assist with scheduling and organization of set-ups and breakdowns in preparation for games and events.
3. Assists with field/facility coverage for games, competitions, and practices.
4. Working with clock operators and other duties for a variety of sports.
5. Prepare game day forms for ticketing, pass lists, etc.
6. Desire to learn and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment of athletics.
Corporate Sponsorships and Fundraising
1. Prepare our loyalty program, Royals Pride, including securing sponsorship and rewards.
2. Solicit local businesses for corporate sponsorship packages.
3. Research current trends and future opportunities for collegiate athletics.
4. Working with corporate sponsorships to develop game promotions.
5. Assisting with event management, fundraising, and other general tasks as assigned.
6. Contact Student-Athlete Alumni through the Discovery initiative to become more engaged in Queens Athletics.
NCAA Compliance
1. Becoming familiar with the NCAA compliance rules and software.
2. Prepare compliance-related reports.
3. Maintain and file compliance-related forms.
4. Accurately review and track official certification, squad lists, and weekly participation rosters, and notify memberships of
missing information.
5. Track NCAA waivers and violations to prepare mid-year and final reports.
6. Develop/revise compliance forms.
7. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director for Compliance.
Internships can take place either during the summer or the academic year
Summer Internship: Although the summer is a relatively slow time in collegiate athletics from an event perspective, this is a key time for upcoming year preparation. The summer is a great time to prospect corporate sponsorships, develop marketing plans for the year, and start working on fall events. All areas of focus will still be available for the summer internship however may be limited in their involvement compared to the Academic year.
Academic Year Internship: During the school year, the interns will work with all the various aspects within our administration. The intern will primarily work with the Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations but will also be involved with Statistics/writing, Compliance, New Media, Event Management, Marketing/promotions, Sponsorships, and/or GM Administration.

A: All internships at Queens University of Charlotte are unpaid. Working with a Division IÂ athletic program, the intern will have the opportunity to be involved in many different areas and projects. The experience gained will be invaluable in any future career path.
Q: How long are the internships?
A: Internships can be flexible and for any length of time.
Q: What is my time commitment?
A: If internships are "for credit" then the hourly requirement is already pre-determined and must be accomplished. If the internship is not "for credit" then both parties will mutually agree upon the terms of the contract.
Q: What is expected of an intern?
A: Queens Athletics views interns as crucial to the overall success of the department, and as such requires a full commitment for the duration of the internship period. This includes being at most or all athletic events, completing work in a professional and prompt manner, and acting professionally in all aspects.
