THE SHORT STORY
The Queens University of Charlotte softball team dropped both games of a Saturday doubleheader at No. 19 South Carolina. After falling 25-4 in the opener, the Royals showed grit in Game 2, highlighted by a two-run home run from Lindsay Henson, before ultimately falling 8-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: South Carolina 25, Queens 4 (5 inn.)

Queens jumped on the board early, scoring twice in the first inning behind RBI hits from Olivia Thornton and Lindsay Henson. Dani Stewart added an RBI single in the second to give the Royals three early runs.

South Carolina responded with big innings in the second and third to take control of the game. Queens added one final run in the fifth, finishing with eight hits in the contest.

Game 2: South Carolina 8, Queens 2
The Royals came out aggressive in the nightcap. Sage Farmer singled and stole second to open the game before Lindsay Henson launched a two-run homer to left center, giving Queens an early 2-0 lead.

South Carolina answered with three runs in the bottom of the first and added two more in the second. A solo home run in the third and a two-run shot in the fifth helped the Gamecocks extend their advantage.

Queens continued to battle offensively. Farmer led the way with a 3-for-4 performance that included a double and a stolen base, while Henson finished 2-for-3 with a home run, double, and two RBI.

Addison Kluck went the distance in the circle in Game 2, allowing eight runs (six earned) across six innings of work. Kluck struck out two.
