GREENSBORO, N.C. — Queens women's volleyball picked up its second win of the season with a 3–0 sweep of Sacred Heart on Saturday morning inside Fleming Gymnasium at the Spartan Classic. The Royals controlled the match with set scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-22.
Queens was efficient offensively, finishing with 48 kills on a .349 hitting percentage while adding seven service aces and nine team blocks. The Royals limited Sacred Heart to a .226 attack percentage and just five total blocks.
Middle blocker Emma Norris led the charge with a dominant performance, posting 12 kills on 16 attempts without an error to hit .750. She also tallied seven blocks and finished with a team-high 15.5 points. Mia McMillen matched Norris at the top of the box score with 12 digs to go along with eight kills and an ace. Callie DeSchryver recorded eight kills, two aces, seven digs, and three blocks.
Queens' offense ran through the setting duo of Tyler Peluso and Megan Kelly, who combined for 36 assists. Peluso finished with 22 assists and nine digs, while Kelly added 14 assists and a block assist. Tilley Collins anchored the back row with 11 digs and added two service aces. Elizabeth Layson and Ellis Sargent contributed six kills apiece in the middle, with Layson hitting .500 and adding three blocks.
"We're working on continuing to string more runs of serves together, but overall I'm not sure we could have played much better," Coach Matt Stolz said on the win. "We hit close to .350 as a team, and Emma was dominant — the best player in the gym today. I'm very proud of how we came out, competed, and played together as Queens volleyball."
