CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Blake Childers has stepped down as Queens University of Charlotte Director of Golf, the Department of Athletics announced today. Childers has spent two years on staff, leading both the men's and women's golf programs this last year.
"Blake made a positive impact on both of our programs in his short time with us," Swarthout stated. "His skillset in player development led to our women's program reaching some historic milestones last spring, and the players returning on both rosters have benefited greatly from his coaching. We wish he and his family the best as they embark upon this new chapter in their lives, and we look forward to the programs continuing their improvement under new leadership."
Childers was promoted to Queens Director of Golf following the 2025 men's and women's golf spring seasons. The women's team earned its first DI program win at the Lady Bison Invitational and went on to win the Georgia State Invitational as well. Additionally, the program saw its first individual win and had golfers earn All-ASUN and ASUN All-Tournament Team recognition for the first time. On the men's side,
John Fahey secured the program's highest finish at the ASUN Championship after tying for sixth place.
"The past two years have been an incredibly meaningful chapter in my life that I wouldn't trade for anything," Childers stated. "This decision is rooted in what is ultimately best for my wife and me. The relationships I've built with our student-athletes and the memories we've shared are what I will carry with me most. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported both me and this program throughout my time here. I firmly believe the program is on a strong, upward trajectory, and I look forward to continuing my support from just down the road."
Childers joined the Royals ahead of the 2023-24 season with nearly eight years of experience developing and mentoring collegiate and junior golfers. The Class-A PGA Member, who has also served as an assistant golf professional at Quail Hollow Club in the past, will be returning to Quail Hollow in an elevated role.
The search for a new leader of the men's and women's golf programs is underway.
