Charlotte, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team captured its first victory of the season in impressive fashion, defeating UNC Greensboro 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Howard Levine Tennis Center. The win also marks a historic milestone as Head Coach
Alex Leatu earns her first victory at the helm of the men's program.

"Today was a battle, and I'm so proud of the guys. They competed hard, and the momentum came from a decisive doubles point. We've put a lot of work into doubles at practice and the guys showed out. Lukas clinching the match was proof that when your number is called you must be ready. We'll build on this and keep improving for Gardner-Webb next."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Queens set the tone early, sweeping the doubles competition to take a crucial 1-0 lead. The duo of
Laurenz Blickwede and
Gavin Ryan clinched a hard-fought 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles.

Luke Coppage and
Win Steveker dominated at No. 2 with a commanding 6-2 victory.
- The pairing of
Lukas Gosselin and
Jan Montero Diaz followed suit, delivering another 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
- With momentum on their side, the Royals carried their strong play into singles action.
Laurenz Blickwede showcased his resilience at No. 1 singles, outlasting Tymofiy Khrystyuk in a thrilling three-set battle, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4).

Jan Montero Diaz each turned in dominant performances, winning in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

Lukas Gosselin sealed the team victory with a gritty 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles.
