Softball Falls to Georgetown in Carolina Classic Opener

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte softball team faced a tough 8-1 loss against Georgetown University on Saturday morning at Anderson Stadium in their first game in the Carolina Classic.

GAME NOTABLES

  • The Royals remained scoreless through the first four innings. Their sole run came in the top of the fifth inning when Caroline Johnson delivered a single to center field, allowing Lindsey DeRoeck to score.
  • Georgetown took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning, scoring two runs — one on a passed ball and another from a solo home run by Emily Strittmatter. Strittmatter extended the Hoyas' lead with another solo homer in the third inning.
