Queens Set for ASUN Quarterfinal Clash at Top-Seeded Lipscomb

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Queens battled to a 0–0 draw against Jacksonville at the Queens Sports Complex, securing the final berth in the 2025 ASUN Tournament. The result clinched the Royals second trip to the ASUN Quarterfinals since joining the league in 2022.

THE MATCHUPS
Thursday marks the third all-time meeting between Queens and Lipscomb, with the Bisons holding a 2–0–0 advantage in the series. The teams last met in Charlotte on October 20, 2024, when Lipscomb earned a 3–0 victory. Queens looks to earn its first result in the series and advance to the ASUN semifinals for the first time in program history.

SCOUTING THE ROYALS (3-10-5 overall, 2-6-2 ASUN)
  • Queens enters the postseason coming off a 0–0 draw with Jacksonville that clinched the program's second ASUN Quarterfinal berth since joining the league in 2022. The Royals freshman class continues to drive the attack, combining for nine goals and seven assists.
  • Tamia Ford leads the team with three goals and three assists (9 points), while Helena Merkle and McKayla Budion have each contributed three goals and two assists.
  • Captain Sejla Podzic remains a defensive leader, starting all 18 matches and coming up on 4,000 career minutes, while adding two goals and one assist.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Dike-Lawlor has anchored the defense, logging 1,479 minutes, 89 saves, a .754 save percentage, and four shutouts, including back-to-back clean sheets to close the regular season.
  • As a team, Queens averages 8.5 shots per game with a .412 shots-on-goal rate, while allowing just 1.72 goals per game, its lowest ASUN mark to date. The Royals have scored 16 goals on 153 shots (.105 %), their highest offensive total since joining the ASUN in 2022.
  • The Royals have also been disciplined and competitive in possession, earning 49 corner kicks and committing just 6.4 fouls per match, the fewest among ASUN tournament qualifiers.
SCOUTING THE BISONS (11-5-2 overall, 7-2-1 ASUN)
  • The Bisons are led by longtime head coach Kevin O'Brien, who earned his 150th career Division I victory earlier this season.
  • The Bisons rank among the ASUN's top three in nearly every major statistical category, averaging 1.89 goals per game while allowing just 0.94, the second-lowest goals-against average in the conference.
  • Offensively, Hailey Johnson headlines the attack with nine goals and two assists (20 points), ranking among the league's top five in total goals. Bella Carapazza (5 G, 6 A) and Skylar Cole (5 G, 3 A) provide additional scoring depth, while London De Fini leads the team with seven assists, ranking among the ASUN leaders in that category.
  • The Bisons are an efficient side in the attacking third, scoring 34 goals on 221 shots (.154 shooting percentage) and averaging 12.3 shots per game.
  • Defensively, Lipscomb has been anchored by goalkeeper Kaina Cesar, who has started 15 matches with 48 saves, a .787 save percentage, and a 0.88 goals-against average.
  • At home, the Bisons are 7–0–2, one of only two ASUN teams undefeated on their own pitch this season, and they have outscored opponents 17–4 in Nashville.
