Savannah Stuart Nets Third Career Goal in Royals Shutout Victory Over North Alabama

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team turned in their first Atlantic Sun win of the 2024 season as the Royals took down North Alabama 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, Queens sits at 5-5 overall, including a 3-1 mark at Dickson Field this season.

TURNING POINT
The difference in the match proved to be an early corner kick opportunity from the Royals. In the 23rd minute, graduate student Girah Durant sent a corner piece into the box finding the head of Savannah Stuart who put away the early scoring chance. The Queens backline dominated the remainder of the match to turn in their fourth clean sheet of the season. The Royals defense limited the Lions' scoring threats despite 10 corner kick opportunities, including six in the second half.

  • Junior Savannah Stuart netted her third career goal, and first of the season in the 23rd minute. Stuart turned in her 21st career 90-minute performance.
  • Charlotte native Girah Durant turned in her team-leading third assist on the Royals goal. The forward added three shots, including one on goal across 62 minutes of work.
  • Junior Kelsey Jargstorf earned her 10th start in goal this season and posted her fourth clean sheet while picking up two saves.

  • Queens outshot the visiting Lions 15-12, including an 11-4 mark in the first half. The mark was the second most shots by Queens this season.
