ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Behind goals from
Sophia Muetterties and
Juliana Hunter, the Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team picked up their third clean sheet of the season with a 2-0 victory over UNC Asheville on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Royals improved to 2-0 all-time against the Bulldogs after winning their first meeting in 1992.

TURNING POINT
Following 14 minutes of scoreless action, the visiting Royals broke the tie when
Sophia Muetterties booted in her second goal of the season, and ninth of her career. Junior
Mia Banchero set up the scoring opportunity with a touch to
Maddy Leone who immediately sent a ball into the box where Muetterties booted it away in the bottom left corner of the net. Later in the match,
Laney Newnam sent a touch in the box to
Lindsay Durham who beat the Bulldogs goalkeeper to the bottom right corner to give Queens a key insurance goal.

- Graduate student Sophia Muetterties netted her second goal of the season and ninth of her career. The Wayne, Pennsylvania native leads the Royals this season in goals.
- Graduate student Lindsay Durham notched her first goal as a Royal across 28 minutes of action.
- Seattle native Mia Banchero dished out her first career assist on the Muetterties goal. The forward earned her first career start and turned in 52 minutes of work.
- Senior Maddy Leone recorded her sixth career assist, and first of the season to set up Muetterties. Leone turned in 50 minutes of action in the victory.
- After scoring a goal in the last outing, sophomore Laney Newnam dished out her second career assist.
- Kelsey Jargstorf made her eighth start in goal and turned in her third clean sheet of the season. The junior faced 17 shots and picked up eight saves.
- Five Royals, including Kelsey Jargstorf, Savannah Stuart, Sejla Podzic, Ansleigh Prell, and Chelseas DeVettori turned in complete games.
- UNC Asheville outshot the Royals 17-9 on the day, but the Royals backline pitched the shutout.

The Royals four-game road stretch will wrap up next Thursday, September 19
th when Queens opens up ASUN play at Central Arkansas. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from Conway, Arkansas and the game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus.
