Queens Takes on Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Royals (6-5) traveled to take on Clemson University (7-5) this afternoon, falling 21-4 to the Tigers.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Following a goal from Abby Zeigenfuse in the first quarter that gave the game a 2-1 score, the Tigers would go on a 5-0 run to increase their lead to six, 7-1.  The Royals were then able to find the back of the net twice more in the second period before heading into the halftime break trailing 11-3.
 
Clemson carried the momentum into the second half holding the Royals scoreless in the third quarter while also adding seven points to the board to solidify their win.
 
 
KEY STATS & NOTES
  • Kayleen Favreau led with two goals while Ainsley Thurston and Abby Zeigenfuse each scored once.
  • Hanna Hilcoff led Clemson with six points on four goals and two assists while Natalie Shurtleff had a hat trick and one assist.
  • Clemson outshot the Royals 39-18, putting 29 shots on goal compared to Queens' 10 shots on goal.
  • Clemson won the battle for ground balls, 16-10, and totaled 20 draw controls to the Royals' eight.
