FLORENCE, Ala. – In the first-ever ASUN Championship tournament appearance, The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team beat the Eastern Kentucky Colonels in Penalty Kicks 4-2. Not only did the Royals make school history by receiving their first ASUN Tournament win, but also made ASUN history by becoming the first eight seed to make it to the Quarterfinals.
Turning Point
In the 10
th minute of the match,
Laney Newnam was presented with a red card for denying a goal-scoring chance while defending an attack. The Royals were then forced to play down a man for the remainder of the match.
After a 0-0 score at the end of regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods, the match went to Penalty Kicks. The winning formula proved to be

Erica Turner stopping two shootout attempts.
