CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Queens' offense committed few errors in a night that saw them take UNC Greensboro to four sets, falling to the Spartans 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 17-25, 25-20).
First Set
UNC Greensboro got out to an early lead but Queens refused to go out without a fight. The Spartans 18-9 lead quickly diminished, as back-to-back kills by senior
Abbey Criser would start a strong run of points as the team would take seven of the next nine points and cut the lead down to four. UNC Greenboro would push back and go on to take the first set, 25-18.
Second Set
Sophomore
Alleigh Johnson helped the Royals get out to an early lead in the second set as she rattled off four consecutive kills. The set was a back-and-forth affair, as there was five lead changes before either team reached 12 points. Queens continued to fight hard, led by Johnson's seven kills in the second set alone, but the Spartans would prevail yet again, 25-18.Â
Third Set
Queens had enough and turned things around in the third set. Sophomore
Jordyn Johnson made her presence felt in a big way early on, as she compiled a block, a kill, and an ace to propel the Royals to a 7-1 lead. Criser's dominance from the front row would continue, as she put away four kills in eight points for Queens, helping grow the lead to 17-12. A fifth kill by her, along with two kills by
Jaianna Bouarouy helped spark a late push as they went on to take the third set, 25-17.
Fourth Set
The Royals found themselves down 13-8 midway through the second set. The offense would sneak in a few more kills, including another three by
Alleigh Johnson, but the Spartans went on to take the set 25-20 and win the match.

- Alleigh Johnson continues to pace the offense, leading the way with 14 kills, hitting at a .344 clip.Â
- Freshman setter Jaianna Bouarouy continues to impress early on in her collegiate career, dishing out 34 assists and gathering 9 digs, while hitting perfectly with four kill on as many attempts.
- Jordyn Johnson put together an impressive double-double, finishing with 10 kills and 13 digs.
- Abbey Criser notched double-digit kills for the first time this season, totaling 10 while hitting .333.
The Royals will be back in action this weekend, as they head to Memphis, TN to compete in the Beale Street Challenge. Their first match will be against Memphis on Friday, September 9 at 1 PM.Â
