Royals Use Strong Second Half to Surge Past Austin Peay in ASUN Opener

The Short Story: The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball erased a 16-point second half deficit as they stormed past Austin Peay University for their first ASUN victory.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Kenny Dye led all scorers with a game-high 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. The senior has reached double figures in five straight games while reaching 20+ points in five games this season.
-AJ McKee continued his impressive season reaching double figures for the 14th consecutive game scoring 14 points. The sophomore was a crisp 8-for-9 from the free throw line and also matched his season-high pulling down seven rebounds.
-BJ McLaurin finished the night with eight points, including a pair of three pointers late in the second half which sparked the Royals comeback win.
-Kalib Mathews, Jay'Den Turner, Quan McCluney, and Chris Ashby combined for 29 points on 50-percent shooting from the field.
-Gavin Rains finished with double figure rebounds for the seventh game this season grabbing a game-high 13 boards.
-After shooting 42-percent in the first half, the Royals caught fire in the second half shooting 56-percent. The Governors would cool off shooting 39-percent in the final 20 minutes after opening the game shooting 50-percent.
-Queens forced 10 Governors turnovers which the Royals converted into 16 points.
-The Royals won the battle on the glass 36-28 and improved to 10-1 this season when outrebounding opponents.

NOTABLE MOMENTS
-Austin Peay wasted no time jolting out to a 13-3 advantage.
-Trailing 63-47 in the second half, Queens used a 10-2 run to close the deficit to 65-57.
-The Royals wouldn't allow a Governors basket for 10 minutes in the final stretch of the game as they stormed from behind.

-This season, Queens is averaging 43.4 points in the second half of their games on 50-percent from the field.
-Queens improved to 31-0 in the last two seasons when scoring 80+ points.
