CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Queens returned to Curry Arena for the second day in a row, hosting Kennesaw State. The team showed grit but ultimately fell short, 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-11).
With the loss, Queens falls to 5-12 (0-4 ASUN), while Kennesaw State improves to 10-4 (3-1 ASUN).Â
Queens went toe-to-toe with Kennesaw State early in the fist set. A kill and a block assist by sophomoreÂ
Victoria Wood, along with sophomore
Kayla McDuffie, knotted the score at four. Later in the set, the Royals found themselves down 12-7, but were able to put together a four-point run, which included another kill by Wood, an ace by sophomore
Jordyn Johnson, and two opponent errors. The young squad continued to claw their way into this game, as a kill by sophomore
Alleigh Johnson cut the deficit to two, 16-14. Wood managed two more kills, but the team fell short, 25-19.Â
After going down 5-2 early in the second set, Queens rattled off three of four consecutive points thanks to a kill by junior
Anna Law and an ace by sophomore
Jesse George, along with a service error. With the team trailing 17-11, they stepped it up a notch and took five of the next seven points, highlighted by back-to-back aces by sophomore
Kaylin Dowling. A kill by law and an error made propelled Queens to cut the deficit to two, 22-20. The Owls managed to put together a late run, taking the final three points and the set, 25-20.Â
The Royals fought hard but struggled to get going in the third set, but
Victoria Wood and
Jordyn Johnson each managed a pair of kills, with
Ellis Sargent,
Abbey Criser, and
Anna Law all each adding one as well. Kennesaw State took the third set and ultimately the match.Â
