PEMBROKE, N.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte men's wrestling team (1-10; 0-4 SACC) lost its first conference match of the new year at UNC Pembroke (3-6; 1-1 SACC) by a final tally of 31-13.
Melvin Rubio (125 lb) opened the match with a marquee victory by decision over twelfth ranked Nick Daggett to deliver a 3-0 lead.
Nico D'Amico (141 lb) followed with a win by decision to recapture the team lead 6-4. The Braves won the ensuing three matches including a Queens forfeit at the 157 lb class.
Stephon Halliburton (174 lb) turned the tide with a win by decision followed by seventh ranked
Noah Curreri (184 lb) winning by major decision to close the gap to 22-13.
UNC Pembroke won the final two matches to close out the victory.
The Royals are on the road for a pair of conference matches versus Coker and Lander on Saturday, January 22 in Hartsville, S.C.
