Royals Fall in Four to North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – A three-match winning streak came to end for Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball on Saturday evening as the Royals fell to North Greenville University by a 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22) score inside Hayes Gymnasium.

In a match that was almost as even as one could get, the difference turned out to be a .263 hitting performance from the Crusaders (9-2) in comparison to a .181 hitting mark from the Royals (7-9).

The first set of action needed extra points to be decided as Queens rallied from a 24-21 deficit to stave off set point four separate times before North Greenville closed out the frame with consecutive kills. The Royals responded with a four-point win in the second set, hitting over .308 as consecutive kills from Josh Bragg evened the match at 1-set apiece.

The Crusaders earned close wins in the final two sets of play, hitting .406 in the final frame to secure the win on their home floor.

Opposite Tristan Santoyo led the Royals with 19 kills and hit .292 with 10 digs, while outside Nic Cavallaro totaled 12 kills of his own. Bragg finished with nine kills and a .350 hitting mark and Stirling Sims collected five total blocks in the middle. Setter Brandon Grabow tallied 40 assists and nine digs for Queens.

Queens returns home for its next match on Tuesday, March 9 to host Lees-McRae College inside Curry Arena at 7 p.m.
