CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte men's wrestling team (0-3) fell short at The Citadel (1-0) by a 30-10 final.
The Royals battled with the Division-I Bulldogs and jumped to an early lead when
Melvin Rubio (125 lb) won the opening match by major decision.
Nico D'Amico (141 lb) followed two matches later with a close win by decision to hoist the Royals ahead 7-5.
After
Stephon Halliburton (174 lb) lost a tight match by a single point,
Noah Curreri (184 lb) ended The Citadel's run and picked up a win by decision cutting the deficit to 18-10.
The Citadel won the final two matches to pull away to victory.
Queens completes its season opening road trip at NAIA Montreat College on Saturday, November 6 at 8 p.m.
