BELMONT, N.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte men's wrestling team (1-5; 0-2 SAC/CC) suffered another close conference loss by a 21-18 final to Belmont Abbey (2-2; 2-0 SAC/CC).
Belmont Abbey won the final two matches of the night by decision to close out the victory.
Melvin Rubio (125 lb) and
Lucas Comroe (133 lb) ignited a hot Royals start with Rubio winning by technical fall and Comroe victorious by fall to snatch an 11-0 lead.
The Crusaders rattled off four wins in a row before
Stephon Halliburton (174 lb) and
Noah Curreri (184 lb) won by decision and major decision, respectively, to regain the match lead, 18-15. Queens battled in the final two weight classes but came up empty.
Queens has suffered its two conference losses by a combined total of four points.
Queens men's wrestling returns home for another South Atlantic Conference Carolinas match versus Newberry on Thursday, December 2 at 7 p.m.
