Charlotte, N.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team picked up a pivotal 3-0 non-conference victory over the Georgia College Bobcats on Tuesday afternoon at Curry Arena in the Levine Center. The victory improved the Royals record to 8-6 overall while the Bobcats fell to 6-12 on the season. The straight set victory advanced the Royals record to 4-1 at home this season.

Queens was electric from the opening serve as the Royals jumped out to an 11-0 lead which was capped off by a
Grace Giunta (Palm City, Fla.) kill. In that span,
Lindsay Elmore (Salisbury, N.C.) was unstoppable at the service line tallying four service aces. The senior would finish the match with six total which ties for first in program history for a three-set match. Rookie
Kayla McDuffie (Winterville, N.C.) could not be stopped on the attack as the freshman earned six kills in the opening set. The early lead proved to be enough in the set despite the Bobcats mounting a late 7-2 rally which was halted when
Alleigh Johnson (Winterville, N.C.) earned a kill to seal the set 25-16.

In the second and third sets, both squads would go back-and-forth early. Trailing 9-7, Queens used a five-point rally which was capped by an
Alleigh Johnson service ace to regain the momentum. Georgia would battle closely until the Royals closed on a six-point run to go ahead 2-0 on the afternoon. Similarly, in the third set, the largest lead was three. Trailing 16-14, Queens mounted another six-point swing which deflated the Bobcats attack. Both squads would exchange points for the remainder of the set before
Jordyn Johnson notched her sixth kill to close the match.

As a team, the Royals were successful on the attack by hitting .229.
Kayla McDuffie was sensational on offense tallying a season-high 11 kills on .381 attacking percentage and 13 points.
Grace Giunta and
Alleigh Johnson would contribute eight kills each while Johnson also added a .350 hitting percentage and 12 digs. The Royals added 10 service aces with
Lindsay Elmore leading the charge with six. On defense, Queens limited the Bobcats to a .075 hitting percentage for the afternoon.
Brooke Farley (Fort Mill, S.C.) would notch five block assists and
Kayla McDuffie contributed four.
Jordyn Johnson (Jamestown, N.C.) and
Loren Johnson (Huntersville, N.C.) would each manage 12 digs.

The Royals will continue their season this weekend with a pair of away conference showdowns.
