CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Queens University of Charlotte and head coach
Rob Tate are pleased to announce the team's 2020-21 schedule. The program is officially slated to begin competition January 7, 2021. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the start date was postponed more than two months from the original regular season start date in November.
The Royals' schedule includes nine regular season matches, seven of which make up conference competition. Queens starts the season with three straight conference matches wrestling at Limestone University in the season opener on Jan. 7 before traveling to Coker University on Jan. 11 in Hartsville, S.C. The Royals host two events this season inside Curry Arena with the home opener versus Emmanual College (Ga.) scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m.
Following the home opener, the Royals have five straight road matches including non-conference opponents, Lander University and UNC Pembroke on Jan. 21 and Jan. 26, respectively. Queens begins the month of February with a trip to regional power Newberry College on February 6 concluding the regular season with its final home match versus King University (Tenn.) on Feb, 11.
The postseason for men's wrestling is scheduled to begin Saturday, Feb. 27 with the NCAA DII Super Regionals in Emmanual, Ga..
Queens returns 14 letter winners from last year's team, including NCAA qualifiers
Melvin Rubio (125) and
Noah Curreri (174). The Royals also added six newcomers to the program, including five freshmen and one transfer.
