DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team, ranked 22
nd nationally, defeated Embry-Riddle this afternoon by a score of 20-13 to improve to 3-1 on the year. The Eagles dropped to 4-2 on the year with the loss.
Kara Blanchard led the Royals with five points on three goals and two assists while
Allison Conn added four goals.
Taylor Quade and
Katie Wardle each recorded hat tricks and
Ally Blood totaled four points on one goal and four assists.
Rachel Perrett contributed five points with one goal and four assists. On the defensive end,
Sydney Bracken and
Cammy Case each tallied three caused turnovers.
Holding just a 5-3 lead with 8:33 on the clock in the first, Queens would put together a 7-1 run to head into the locker room with a 12-4 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Queens increased its lead to as much as 10 on three occasions maintaining at least a seven-point lead throughout to secure the road win over the Eagles.
Queens outshot Embry-Riddle, 33-27, putting 29 shots on goal compared to the Eagles' 20 shots on goal. Additionally, the Royals won the battle for ground balls, 26-17 and recorded 17 draw controls with
Sydney Hussey's eight leading the way.
Sara Mitrecic collected today's win in goal after totaling six saves.
McKenzie Jackson and Elizabeth Ninesling led the Eagles with three goals each. Skylar Mossop took the loss in goal after recording nine saves.
Queens will return home to Dickson Field to face No. 3 Florida Southern on Sunday, March 10 at noon.
